Durban – One person was killed and fourteen others injured after two taxis and a vehicle collided on the corner of Warwick Avenue and Old Dutch Road in the Durban city centre on Saturday morning.

Rescue Care Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson said the accident had occurred just after 05:00.

He said paramedics had arrived on the scene to find that two taxis and a vehicle had collided in the junction.

"One male, believed to be in his forties, had sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do to assist and he was declared deceased on the scene," he said.

Jamieson said a further fourteen people had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene by multiple Rescue Care ambulances and advanced life support units, before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
