Durban – A man in his 30s has been killed while five others were injured after two vehicles collided head-on, on the M35 in Folweni, south of Durban on Wednesday morning, paramedics said.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the two vehicles had collided and come to rest on the side of the road, said Ceron Lennox, spokesperson for Rescue Care.

“A male believed to be in his 30s had suffered serious injuries and had unfortunately passed away before paramedics had arrived, he was declared deceased on the scene,” she said adding that the accident happened just after 08:00.

A further five people had sustained various injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various hospitals for the further care that they required, Lennox said.

At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however police were on scene and will be investigating further, she added.
