A serious collision between a bakkie and a minibus taxi has left one man dead and multiple people injured.

The incident took place on late Saturday afternoon on Inanda Road in Chrestholme, Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal.

According to Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson, many people who were in the minibus taxi sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

"A rescue technician had to use the jaws of life to free driver of the taxi.

"All the patients were treated on scene and transported by multiple other ambulance services to hospital for further treatment."

Herbst said all necessary authorities were on scene to investigate.
