Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 31-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape on Sunday.

Rowan de Vos from Gerald Smith was hit by the driver of a blue Volkswagen Up that was travelling on Caledon Street, Uitenhage in the direction of a nearby town, Despatch.

"The pedestrian died on the scene,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Majla Nkohli.

"Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Aretha Sam, on 041 996 4500 or alternatively the crime stop number 08600 10111," said Nkohli.
