Part of Addington Hospital evacuated after fire

2016-06-28 11:15

Durban - A floor of Durban’s Addington Hospital was evacuated after a fire broke out on Tuesday morning.

Life Response 24/7 spokesperson Leon Fourie said that medics had responded to the hospital with the eThekwini Metro Fire Department as a precaution.

“The 12th floor had to be evacuated after a fire broke out in one of the rooms. From what we understand, a patient in the room may have set fire to a bed sheet which started the blaze,” he said.

“The fire was confined to a single room and was extinguished.

“The floor was evacuated and the fire department is now allowing the area to ventilate and rid it of smoke,” Fourie added.
