Pietermaritzburg – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car on the N3 highway in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal paramedics said.

It is believed the woman, 30, failed to notice the oncoming vehicle as she crossed the road on Saturday night, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Paramedics found her body lying in the emergency lane.

“Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead.”

The driver and occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
