Cape Town - Two people were killed and another injured on Thursday after a truck drove over a car in Atlantis, Western Cape, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

"It is believed that one of the deceased had been undergoing a driver's licence test at the time of the collision," he said.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident on the corner of Charl Uys and Neil Hare roads and found the truck on top of the car's entire front section.

A heavy rescue crane was used to lift the truck off the vehicle.

The bodies of two men were found lying motionless inside the car. They were declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries and was treated before being taken to a nearby hospital.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
