2016-05-05 11:04

Durban – A man was critically injured when his bakkie plunged off a bridge in Maidstone, Tongaat, on Thursday, paramedics said.

"Paramedics had to be lowered down from the bridge using specialised high-angle equipment to gain access to the injured patient,” IPSS spokesperson Paul Herbst said.

The police’s K9 and search and rescue units were called to help.

The patient, a man in his 30s, and the paramedic sent down to treat him, were hauled back up.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital.
