Durban - Two construction workers in Morningside, Durban were rescued on Monday after a trench on a building site collapsed, trapping them.

Durban Search and Rescue paramedics were called to a building site at club Miami Boulevard in Florida Road to help.

The pair had been working on the foundations of the building when the trench they were working in collapsed, bringing down the surrounding half-built wall with it.

Paramedics pulled the two out while the trench was collapsing further.

They sustained minor injuries, Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane told News24 on Monday.

They were taken to hospital via ambulance.
