Durban – Two boys riding their bicycles on Circle Drive in Pinetown were badly injured after being struck by a car on Saturday.

ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak, said that the boys, aged 11 and 12-years-old, may have been dragged under the car after it hit them.

"At approximately 13:00, paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the two boys seated in a nearby taxi," he said.

“It is understood that they were riding their bicycles when they fell and a car collided with them. One of the boys sustained several burns and abrasions. The other sustained a severe laceration to his head and a possible fractured arm," Vermaak said.

The taxi driver, who happened on the scene of the accident soon after it happened, helped the injured boys into his taxi and called paramedics.

“Paramedics treated both the boys and transported them to RK Khan Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the vehicle was in shock about what had happened,” he said.
