Pretoria - Two women were attacked by a pit bull in Mooikloof, Pretoria East, on Monday morning, paramedics said.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, one of the women was in a serious condition, while the second had a bite on the hand, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

Both were taken to a nearby hospital.

It was not clear what caused the dog to bite the women, who are both domestic workers.
