This week on POLOTIKI, we discuss whether the media overstepped the mark on Julius Malema, the name of Patricia de Lille's new political party and Shamila Batohi taking the reins at the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

On Tuesday, President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Batohi as the new National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).

The question has been raised: Will she be the first NDPP to survive a full term in office?

After Parliament's adoption of the Joint Constitutional Review Committee's report, which recommended that the Constitution be amended to allow expropriation of land without compensation, EFF leader Julius Malema held a press briefing.

He said he feared for the safety of his wife Mantwa and his children after his home address was posted on Twitter.

He said he brought the matter to the attention of the police and that he would not negotiate where his wife and children were concerned.

"I shoot to kill," he warned.

News24 senior politics reporter Tshidi Madia and News24 associate editor for in-depth news Pieter du Toit also discuss statements made by multibillionaire and business mogul Johann Rupert during an interview on PowerFM on Tuesday night.

Rupert later apologised, saying he didn't mean to offend anyone.

On Wednesday, the business magnate tweeted: "Apology, no insult intended. I merely replied to a question about how my parents generation lived and saved. Millennials GLOBALLY have different life-styles. (And mentioned that Steve Biko, whom I knew, would not have done it.)"
