Krugersdorp - Police have arrested a man who allegedly threatened people with a gun at a tavern in Sinqobile, Krugersdorp, in August.

The 27-year-old man allegedly walked into a tavern in the early hours of August 27 and threatened customers by firing shots.

After he fired shots inside the tavern, the man is alleged to have stepped outside and fired three more shots into the ground.

"The complainant [owner of the tavern] tried to calm the suspect but he just left instead," police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said.

The man was eventually cornered and arrested at his residence in Sinqobile on Friday.

The suspect was detained at Kagiso police station and charged with pointing and discharging a firearm in a municipal area.
