Johannesburg – Gauteng police are urging residents of the George Goch Hostel and surrounding areas to come forward with information on a shooting that left two dead on Saturday night.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, said on Sunday that three others were injured in the attack.

"At this stage we do not know the motive for the shooting because nothing was taken. We are urging the community to assist police with this matter."

DA Johannesburg East Constituency Head Jack Bloom said he was "horrified" at the shooting.

He said one of the injured was a 32-year-old DA member who was shot twice in the thigh and once in the arm.
