Durban - Police are investigating a case of murder following the discovery of a 63-year-old woman's body in her Brownsdrift home.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane on Wednesday said authorities discovered the body at Umngeni Park on Tuesday.

"On arrival at the scene the members found a body of a 63-year-old woman lying on the bedroom floor with head injuries. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage," he said.

Community newspaper the Northglen News reported that she was found with masking tape around her face.

It went on to report that a neighbour discovered her body after noticing that the back door to her home had been left open.
