Police search for missing boy, 10, after friend's body is found

Durban – Police are searching for a missing 10-year-old boy after the body of his friend – who was last seen with him – was found in a bush in Montclair, Durban.

Luyanda Msomi and his friend Njabulo Mankanyi, who are both Grade 3 pupils at Clairwood Boys Primary School, were last seen boarding a bus to go home last Tuesday.

Msomi's bruised body was found by police in a dense bush in Montclair on Saturday.

However, Mankanyi has not yet been found.

Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said on Monday that police arrested two women "after an intensive investigation [into] the missing inquiry of two children in Brighton Beach area".

"The suspects will be charged with kidnapping and murder. They will appear in court soon," Mbhele said.

According to reports, one of the women was known to the boys.

"The investigation is continuing, as police's Search and Rescue Team, K9 Unit members, Brighton Beach and Montclair police are still searching for the second child," she said.
