Police searching for 'buffalo salesman'

2016-06-08 14:40

Polokwane - Limpopo police were searching for a man believed to be linked to a scam advertising buffaloes for sale.

Colonel Ronel Otto said on Wednesday they wanted to get in touch with a Jaco Opperman for help in an investigation into several fraud cases.

He was listed as the contact person on online adverts advertising buffaloes for sale.

"People who are interested in buying the said buffaloes must then deposit a certain amount into a bank account. After the money is deposited, he then disappears."

Opperman allegedly operated under the names of Tinus Rassie Ras, Kobus Kruger and Rodney Enslin, Otto said.

Police believed Opperman could also help them with an investigation into similar cases in Midrand and Lephalale.

Anyone with information about the matter could contact Constable Rossouw of the Modimolle detective service on 071-133-8524.
