Cape Town - The possibility of a plea deal for four people accused of robbing and murdering a Paradyskloof woman, was raised during their pre-trial conference in the Western Cape High Court on Friday.
Nicolize Geldehuys, her boyfriend Romeo Hendricks as well as co-accused Enrico Malherbe and Andre Coetzee are accused of the murder of 80-year-old Marie Verwey. Geldenhuys was Verwey’s home-care nurse.
The elderly woman was killed at Villa Merwe guesthouse in February. Jewellery believed to be worth R1m was stolen.
Verwey was stabbed to death and had more than 50 knife wounds. Her body was reportedly discovered by a neighbour.
The trial is expected to commence on March 5 and all four accused are in custody.
