Potchefstroom – A student was injured on Saturday after she apparently tripped and fell onto a real estate agency board in Potchefstroom, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said paramedics were dispatched to the incident in President Street.

"A female student allegedly tripped and fell over a real estate agency board on the side of the road. The fall left one of her legs impaled by the steel rod of the board.

"ER24 paramedics made use of specialised equipment and cut most of the steel frame away. They then secured the rest of the rod."

Rossouw said the woman was treated and transported to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
