R114 closed after man and two children killed in horror crash

Johannesburg - Two children and an adult were killed in a collision on the R114 in Diepsloot on Saturday night, paramedics have confirmed.

ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw in a statement said the three were killed and eight were injured in the crash which involved a bakkie and a car.

“It is believed that the two vehicles collided head on with each other which lead to some of the occupants being ejected from the vehicles,” he said.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived they found the mangled vehicles on both sides of the road. Many bystanders surrounded the scene.”

A man believed to be in his late twenties and two children under the age of seven were declared dead at the scene.

“Eight other patients, including three children under the age of twelve, all sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate,” Rossouw said.

“ER24 paramedics treated and transported two patients to Thembisa Provincial Hospital for further treatment. The remaining patients were treated and transported by other medical services on scene.”

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes as authorities have closed the road for investigations.
