Johannesburg – A man who claimed to be a prophet in order to lure and sexually abuse young women was handed two life sentences by the Johannesburg High Court on Monday, Gauteng police said.

Three victims, aged between 17 and 29, testified that Papiki Danster, 34, gave them muti, after which they lost consciousness and he assaulted them, Captain Kay Makhubela said.

The crimes took place in Mapetla Park, Soweto, between June 2014 and May 2015.

Danster faced 10 charges and was found guilty of eight, including rape, robbery, kidnapping, attempted rape, and attempted murder.

DNA samples were used to help convict him.
