Cape Town - The man accused of the rape and murder of Lavender Hill teen Rene Roman intends to plead guilty to one of the charges against him, the Western Cape High Court heard on Friday.

Andrew Plaatjies confirmed his intention after his advocate, Henk Carstens, informed Judge André la Grange during his pre-trial conference.

The State told the court that the pathologist's report was still outstanding and the case was postponed to March 23.

Plaatjies remains in custody.

It is alleged that Plaatjies raped and killed Roman in Lavender Hill in March.

Outside of court, the teen's mother, Chrissandre Jacobs, said she wanted the trial to "just be over".

Jacobs last saw her daughter alive in St Agatha Street, Lavender Hill on March 10.

Roman's decomposing body was found 11 days after her disappearance in a Wendy house in St Agatha Street, which is the same road which she lived with her family.

The 13-year-old had been helping her mother take washing from the line when she asked to go to the nearby shop to buy chips.

Her body was half naked and covered with a carpet when it was found. Her hands and feet were bound.
