Durban - A man who is believed to have been stuck under a bridge platform for two days has been rescued, paramedic services said on Monday.

The man was found after people on a passing by boat spotted him wedged under a section of the Connaught Bridge in Durban, Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson told News24.

"We are unsure of how he ended up there. He was dehydrated but stable. He is being transported to hospital for further care."

Specialised equipment had to be used to bring the man to safety, Jamieson said.

"Paul Herbst from IPSS went down to perform the rescue."

Jamieson said Police Search and Rescue were also part of the rescue.
