The N7 has been re-opened but motorists are warned that rocks and debris still litter the road. One woman complained on social media that the rocks left her car with a flat tyre.

The MyCiti service also said that its buses were turning around at Potsdam station while Usasaza, Dunoon and Killarney stations were all closed.

There was a heavy police presence on scene monitoring the situation.
