Cape Town - Three men who robbed a store in a Cape Town shopping mall and killed a security guard are still at large, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

The trio hit the Imariki Centre in Philippi on Wednesday afternoon at 17:00.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said murder and business robbery cases were under investigation.

The suspects are understood to have gunned down the guard, before making their way into a shop where they demanded money.

"They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount cash, and on their way out, hijacked a local taxi [escaping in the] Toyota Avanza," Van Wyk said.

No one had been arrested, Van Wyk confirmed.
