SABC sorry about 'WTF' tweet

2015-11-09 17:45

Johannesburg - The SABC had to do damage control after a "what the fuck" tweet was sent out on its official Twitter page on Sunday.

A News24 tweet about the R4bn to be spent on a new VIP jet for President Jacob Zuma was retweeted by the SABC's official account with arrows pointing towards the story and the words "WHAT.THE.FUCK".

The tweet was later removed and the SABC sent out an apology on its Twitter timeline, but not before people had had a chance to screen grab it.

In its apology, SABC said it was done by someone "without authority to be on our account".

SABC News would like to apologise for an earlier tweet that had profanity. The was done by someone without authority to be on our account.

It was not clear how someone who did not have "authority" to tweet on the official account had access to it.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago was not immediately available for comment.
