Saturday's weather: Severe thunderstorms and flooding expected in parts of SA

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.
      
The South African Weather Service has also issued a special weather advisory for an intense cut-off low that is expected to affect the Western Cape on Sunday into Monday.

The public is advised that heavy rain and flooding are expected over the Garden Route, Overberg district and Breede River Valley as well as along the Wild Coast.

The weather in your region

It will be partly cloudy and warm in Gauteng, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.

In Mpumalanga, it will be cloudy in the east with morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm but cool over the Highveld.

Afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the Lowveld.

Limpopo will have morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

In the North West it will be warm in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Partly cloudy conditions can be expected in the Free State.

It will be warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

It will be cloudy in the west of the Northern Cape at first with morning fog patches along the coast. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

It will become cloudy with isolated evening showers and thundershowers over the southern high ground where it will be cool.

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly to southerly.

Partly cloudy and warm conditions can be expected in the west of the Western Cape. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers and rain.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly to easterly along the south coast.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

In the Eastern Cape, morning fog patches can be expected on the south of the escarpment, otherwise, it will be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and rain.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

Cloudy and warm conditions can be expected in KwaZulu-Natal with widespread showers and thundershowers in the south-west otherwise scattered, but isolated in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be gentle to moderate south-westerly becoming moderate easterly to north-easterly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is low.
