Johannesburg – A security guard was shot dead while transporting cash along Westinghouse Boulevard in the Vaal area on Monday morning, Gauteng paramedics said.

The guard was shot multiple times, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth said.

ER24 paramedics found the man, believed to be in his late 30s, in critical condition.

His condition deteriorated and paramedics tried to resuscitate him, said Bodasing Harduth.

She said that, despite all efforts to save the man, he had died.
