The acting divisional commissioner of forensic services, Lieutenant General Mark Dumisa Magadlela, has been accused of misusing a state-owned vehicle and forging the signature of a junior officer.

IPID spokesperson Moses Dlamini confirmed that the police watchdog was investigating a case of forgery, fraud, uttering, corruption, defeating the ends of justice and using a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.

When contacted for comment, Magadlela said: "I can confirm that IPID investigated the allegations and it has made recommendations for disciplinary [action] to SAPS management."

He declined to answer any other questions and referred News24 to IPID.

National police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili said the matter was between the employer and employee, and that it was an internal one.
