Shop owner shot dead in Katlehong

2016-03-15 18:53

Johannesburg – A Katlehong shop owner was shot dead on Monday night by unidentified men, police said.

This came after four people were arrested in the township over a fatal shooting that in which four others were left injured on Sunday.

Following Sunday’s shooting, angry residents went on a rampage, looting foreign-owned spaza shops.

Police, however, said the two incidents were unrelated.

“One incident happened in Katlehong North while the shop owner was murdered at Katlehong South,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Noxolo Kweza.

She told News24 the shop owner was shot when he refused to open his gate to the suspects.

“Nothing was taken from the shop, we are still investigating,” she said.
