Johannesburg – The trial of the man accused of killing Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O'Bryan was postponed in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Preshalin Naidoo’s lawyer, Luando Voster, asked for a postponement as his colleague advocate Francois Roets had a stomach bug and would only be available on Tuesday.

Roets is the advocate in charge of Naidoo's defence.

Prosecutor Dinesh Nandkissor said he expected to conclude the State’s case against Naidoo on Friday.

During his brief appearance, Naidoo sat silently in the dock. He was dressed in a beige suit jacket and navy pants.

Naidoo faces two counts of culpable homicide and additional charges of reckless or negligent driving, and inconsiderate driving. His VW Polo GTI crashed into Mhere’s car on William Nicol Drive, Fourways, in the early hours of January 31, 2015.

Mhere's father Joseph was a passenger in the car. He survived. O'Bryan had a three-year-old daughter.
