The case of a 24-year-old woman, who is accused of abducting a newborn baby from Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto in June, has been postponed for further investigation.

Kereleng Ramoisa briefly appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday when the case was postponed.

The newborn baby was abducted on June 6 at the hospital's maternity ward by a woman who claimed to be a family member.

Police viewed CCTV footage which showed a woman roaming around the antenatal clinic before leaving the maternity area carrying a baby in a purple blanket.

She asked to take the baby outside to show family members, but never returned, News24 earlier reported.

The surveillance also revealed that there were two accomplices were with her.
