With five days to go before the Springboks' opening Test against Ireland, the Boks are shaping up nicely and are a lot more focused, said captain Adriaan Strauss from the team hotel in Cape Town on Monday. Watch. WATCH

Mbombela - Ahead of their crucial Rugby Championship match against Argentina on Saturday, South African rugby stars put smiles on the faces of pupils from a rural school in Matsulu, outside Mbombela, when they donated a fully resourced mobile library on Friday morning.

Prior to that, according to Grade 7 learner Juvilant Mhlongo, 14, children at the school had to walk more than 10km to another village library to get books for their school projects and assignments.

"We are filled with gratitude and happiness that we have been given this facility, it means a lot to us because as Grade 7 learners we get a lot of projects that need us to go out to the library, now that it's closer to us we won't have any problems going far to get information," she said.

The Springboks handed over the mobile library to Sukumani Primary School in Matsulu on Friday under a programme called Boks4Books. The school also received a rugby kit, netball kit and sanitary towels for girls.

"A lot of sports comes with education and it is a mass programme in our country, we all know that about 8% of the country's children have access to a library [therefore] we started this initiative a couple of years ago and today we are here and we are enjoying our time and the good weather of the province while we give these learners access to information on their door step," said CEO for SA Rugby Jurie Roux.

"We are happy that we can hold hands with the department of education in this region and that we can give these learners the opportunity to go to a library and not have to walk to another village to have access to the books that they want," he said.

Roux added that Boks4Books gets hundreds of applications for help, but having heard that the learners had to walk to another village to get their books made them deserving recipients.

"We have a lot of applicants, access to library and funds are a big issue, we tend to go the places where the resources are limited, having heard that they have to walk to another village to get to a library, that is check number one," he added.

ANC MP Dudu Manana applauded the Springboks for helping to build a better future for the learners.

"…The library will encourage the learners to read more books. We are very thankful to the Springboks and we wish them luck in their game tomorrow," said Manana.
