Tzaneen – A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his stepdaughters, aged 8 and 11, near Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

The 44-year-old had allegedly been sexually assaulting the girls in a village in the Maake policing district since April, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said.

He allegedly did so after they came home from school and while their mother was at work. He allegedly threatened to kill the girls if they told anyone about it.

He would appear before the Lenyenye Magistrate's Court on charges of rape and resisting arrest on Monday.

Police cornered him at a taxi rank after receiving a tip-off from local residents.
