Cape Town - A couple found dead in their Great Brak River home on Saturday possibly knew their attacker, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.

There was no sign of forced entry at the Sandhoogtepad home of Tewie Human and his wife Eurika, Captain Malcolm Pojie told News24.

"Detectives had to break down the door to the house where the woman, who is in her 60s, was found. The lock of the garage door, where the man was found, also had to be kicked in to gain access."

A suspect had been identified and police were looking for him, Pojie said.

Eurika was stabbed to death. She sustained four stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Tewie was hacked with a panga. He also suffered fractures to his upper body and head.
