Thohoyohandou - Police in Thohoyandou have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a teen, who was stabbed and robbed of his cellphones on Christmas Eve.

The suspects, 18 and 19 years old, were arrested in Phathutshedzo village near Thohoyandou on Monday after an intense search and special intelligence operation to trace them.

A passerby found the body of Rihangwele Ramaremisa alongside a road in the Shayandima area outside Thohoyandou.

It is alleged that, on December 24, the suspects made phone calls to him.

This then allegedly led to a meeting.

"It is alleged that the deceased received a phone call while at home and he went out and never came back... His body was found lying along the street the next day with stab wounds on both legs," said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoape.

"During the arrest, the instrument used to kill the deceased and the deceased's two... cellphones were recovered."

The suspects were expected to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court soon.

Police investigations are continuing.
