Durban - A pedestrian was killed after being knocked into a tree by a taxi in Kwandengezi on Saturday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall said it is believed the taxi, transporting about 20 people, crashed into the pedestrian and tree next to Shezi Road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“The driver and three of the taxi passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to RK Khan regional hospital. One woman sustained moderate injuries and she was transported to a private hospital in the area,” Siddall said.

Other injured passengers were taken to hospital by other emergency services.

Authorities are investigating.
