Cape Town - It was an emotional day in the Western Cape High Court, as Guatemalan national Diego Novella addressed the parents of the slain Gabriela Kabrins Alban on Monday, the first time he has done so since being arrested for her murder.Alban's parents, Doris Weitz and Howdy Kabrins, were in tears as Novella, who appeared remorseful, testified."Mrs Weitz, I have no idea what you went through," said Novella as he fought back his own tears.ALSO READ: Murder accused Diego Novella claims slain girlfriend assaulted him"When my [mother] lost her son, [she] wanted to die."We were seven sons, and you only had Gaby."When Novella directed his words to Kabrins, the distraught father was unable to contain his emotions."You have no idea!" he shouted.Novella's lawyer advocate William Booth asked his client to tell the court how Alban's death had affected him."When I was in prison, I had two heart attacks or an acute pain in my heart," Novella told the court."There are moments where I still can't believe that this is true."I never put a finger on Gaby violently."The Guatemalan man is on trial for Alban's murder at a Camps Bay hotel on July 29, 2015.
