Durban – A teenage girl was saved from drowning after suffering a seizure while swimming at Uvongo beach, south of Durban, on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old girl was pulled from the surf and lifeguards and a paramedic, who was at the beach, began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

After a few minutes, the girl started to breathe on her own and her heart began beating again. She was taken to a local hospital.
