Johannesburg- Three children were among a group of six people who have been killed in an accident in Mooketsi in Limpopo, paramedics said on Saturday.

The incident happened on Friday night when the SUV they were travelling in rolled off the road, ejecting the passengers, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the vehicle had sustained significant damage as it rolled, leaving debris littered in its path.

"On inspection, paramedics discovered numerous bodies lying around the scene that had apparently been ejected from the vehicle," said Meiring

Two girls and a boy believed to be aged between four and 10, and two adults were found to have already died and were declared dead on scene.

Three other adult passengers - one of them critically injured - were treated at the crash site before being taken to hospital.

"On arrival at hospital, the critically injured patient unfortunately succumbed to her injuries," said Meiring.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
