Cape Town - Three men were killed and several other people were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the N1 near Kraaifontein in Cape Town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said paramedics arrived to find two men were trapped in the car that was on its roof and another was trapped in a light delivery vehicle.

“Sadly there was nothing that could be done for them. They had succumbed to their injuries. They were declared dead,” she said.

“A woman who had to be extricated from one of the vehicles was assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries.”

Bodasing said that five other people, including two young children, were treated for their injuries and transported to various local hospitals.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
