Three suspects appear in court for murder of Umbilo businessman

Three suspects aged between 30 and 40 appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for the murder of a 37-year-old businessman, Kidesh Ramjettan.

It is alleged that on August, 22, 2018 at around 16:00, the victim was outside his business premises at South Coast Road, Umbilo talking to his friend when an unknown suspect approached them.

The suspect allegedly shot and killed him before fleeing the scene on foot.

A case of murder was opened at Umbilo police station for further investigation. The docket was assigned to the Provincial Task Team for investigation.

Speaking to DRUM, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said that the case was remanded until 25 October 2018 for bail application.

The suspects were arrested in the Gauteng province by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team and the firearm believed to be used during the shooting was also recovered.
