Port Elizabeth - Eastern Cape police have arrested three teenagers in connection with the murder of Magda van Vuuren during a hijacking on Monday.

Van Vuuren walked out of her mother’s house in Adcockvale, Port Elizabeth, and was just about to unlock her BMW when a young man dressed in school uniform approached her and demanded her car, Netwerk24 reported.

Three shots were fired. Van Vuuren, 53, was hit in the back.

She died in Livingstone Hospital on Monday afternoon.

A 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were found in the hijacked car at an Engen filling station in Bluewater Bay on Monday evening. They are both from Wells Estate.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu told Netwerk24 that another 16-year-old boy, apparently the shooter, was arrested at his home in Zwide on Tuesday.

The teens are in the same school. Police did not release the name of the school.
