Thursday's weather: Cool conditions creep in, except in the extreme northeast

Cool temperatures are expected across the country, but it will be warmer over the extreme northeast on Thursday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central interior of the Eastern Cape, as reported by the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to be cool to warm.

Morning fog is expected on the Highveld of Gauteng. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers but scattered in the southern Highveld. The expected UVB sunburn index will be extreme.

Mpumalanga is expected to be cloudy in the morning with fog patches over the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers but scattered over the escarpment and southern Highveld.

It will be cloudy with morning fog on the escarpment of Limpopo. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the south and southwest.

The North West is expected to be cloudy over the extreme east at first. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy, windy and warm, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms, except in the extreme west.

It will be cloudy over the extreme east of the Free State at first. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers, except in the southwest where it will be fine.

The Northern Cape is expected to experience morning fog along the coast where it will be cool. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm but hot in the northern interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate.

It will be cloudy along the south coast and eastern interior of the Western Cape at first. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm but cool in places along the south and south-west coastal areas. It will become partly cloudy along the south coast in the evening. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong. The expected UVB sunburn index will be very high.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be cloudy at first in the south of the escarpment, with a chance of light morning showers and rain. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool with isolated afternoon thundershowers but scattered in the north. It will become warm during the day over the western interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.
