Thursday's weather: Warm to hot weather for most of SA

Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are expected across most of the country on Thursday.

Severe thunderstorms are possible over the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the western parts of the North West, and the Free State, according to information provided by the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to be warm.

It will be partly cloudy and cool to warm in Gauteng, with scattered showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index will be low.

Morning fog patches are expected along the escarpment of Mpumalanga. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the west.

Limpopo is expected to experience morning fog patches on the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. Scattered thundershowers are expected in the southwest.

It will be partly cloudy and cool to warm in the North West, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The Free State will experience fog patches at first. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north.

It will be hot in the north of the Northern Cape. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers in the east. It will be cloudy and cool along the coast with morning fog. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate.

It will be cloudy with morning fog along the entire coast line of the Western Cape. Otherwise, it will be fine to partly cloudy and warm to hot but cool along the south coast and peninsula. It will become cloudy to partly cloudy over the coast line and adjacent interior by the evening. The wind along the coast will be light and variable. The expected UVB sunburn index will be very high.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be partly cloudy and warm. Isolated afternoon thundershowers are expected over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly.

It will be partly cloudy with morning mist over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be warm but cool in places in the southwest. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the west. The wind along the coast will be gentle. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.
