Cape Town – Three suspects arrested in connection with teenager Franziska Blöchliger’s murder are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, her father confirmed.

This, as SanParks officially closed off the entire lower part of Tokai Forest on Wednesday afternoon.

Florian Blöchliger told News24 on Wednesday that police had said that two of the suspects "look good" in terms of the case. They were aged between 22 and 27.

He added that provincial police had taken over the investigation from the Kirstenhof police station.

The family had upped the reward from R50 000 to R100 000 for solid information on the incident.

Table Mountain National Park spokesperson Merle Collins confirmed just before 5pm that the entire area had been closed by the park manager in accordance with police instructions.

"We were told that police have done whatever they need to do. Only police have got free access of the area."

Earlier, joggers and people walking their dogs had walked freely through the forest near Dennedel Avenue.

Rangers had instructed media to stick to the recreation path and not walk into the forest to shoot footage or take photographs.

Men in plain clothing, with an official air, were seen walking through the trees towards open fynbos.

A ranger was overheard telling other rangers in Xhosa that they were part of the forensic team.

The 16-year-old teen’s body was found about half an hour after she went missing on Monday.

Forensic expert David Klatzow was also reportedly roped in to help with the investigation.
