Tuesday's weather: Another hot day for the Northern, Western Cape

Extremely hot conditions are expected over parts of the Northern and Western Cape on Tuesday, according to the South African Weather Service

Extremely hot conditions with high fire danger are expected over the West Coast District, Central and Little Karoo as well as Cape Winelands of the Western Cape and western interior of the Northern Cape. 

The weather in your region

In Gauteng, it will be cloudy at first, but otherwise fine and cool to warm. The expected UVB sunburn index: High.

Mpumalanga will be cloudy at first with fog patches over the Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm.

It will be cloudy in the morning in Limpopo with fog in the south-eastern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

The North West will be partly cloudy and warm.

The Free State will be fine and warm, but partly cloudy and cool in the north-east.

It will be fine and warm to hot in the Northern Cape, but very hot to extremely hot in the south-west of the province. It will become partly cloudy from the afternoon. It will be warm along the coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to north-westerly, becoming southerly to south-westerly in the evening.

The Western Cape will be partly cloudy at first over the south-western parts, otherwise fine and very hot to extremely hot in places over the interior and along the south coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly to easterly becoming moderate westerly to south-westerly along the west coast in the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme.

It will be fine and warm to very hot in parts of the western half of the Eastern Cape. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming light to moderate westerly by late evening. In the eastern half of the province, expect it to be cloudy with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will experience morning fog over the interior, but otherwise will be fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly in the north, otherwise gentle northerly to north-westerly, becoming moderate east to north-easterly in the afternoon.
