Tuesday's weather: Cold and rainy for Western Cape, warmer conditions in the north

The western parts of the country will be cold and wet, while northern parts of the country will be warmer on Tuesday.

It will be cool to cold along the coast, according to the South African Weather Service.

Special weather advisories

Strong north-westerly to westerly winds (50-60km/h) are expected over the southern interior of the Northern Cape, as well as over the Breede River Valley and Central Karoo of the Western Cape on Wednesday.

The weather in your region

It will be fine and warm in Gauteng. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.

Mpumalanga will be fine and warm but hot to very hot in the Lowveld.

It will be fine and warm to hot in Limpopo.

The North West will be fine and warm.

It will be fine and cool, but warm in the northern parts of the Free State.

It will be cloudy with morning fog over the southern interior of the Northern Cape. Otherwise, it will be fine and cool to warm but cold over the southern high ground. The wind along the coast will be light.

The Western Cape will be cloudy with early morning isolated showers and rain in places. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to cold. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh. The expected UVB sunburn index will be low.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be partly cloudy. Otherwise, it will be fine and cool, but warm in places. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh. 

It will be fine in the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and warm, but cool in the extreme southwest. Rain and isolated showers are expected along the north coast in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be gentle to moderate. The expected UVB sunburn index will be low.
