Pretoria – The Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Soshanguve campuses have announced on their social networking site Facebook page that exams will be written on January 11 to 29.

“The Soshanguve campuses will reopen on January 4 2016 for returning students who have to write exams,” the university said.

Re-examinations will be written from February 1 until 12.

In November the university had initially postponed their exams indefinitely.

This came after the university experienced an ongoing volatility.

Some students were reportedly living in fear as the institution was gripped by violent protests that had seen university property damaged.

During the student protest, three halls were set alight at the Soshanguve campus.

Police had also said furniture was damaged as a result. Two private vehicles belonging to security guards were also set alight during the student protest.

A photo on social networking site Twitter showed a torched bakkie inside the hall, surrounded by overturned desks and chairs.
