Twitter goes from excited to confused on #MbekiLetters

Cape Town – After teasing social media about a response to the “Nkandla matter”, former president Thabo Mbeki published a lengthy piece on his thoughts on the matter.

Mbeki’s Sunday evening announcement that he’d be posting the letter lit up his Facebook page with more than 1 300 shares. But the excitement soon turned to bemusement after South Africans read the 4 000-word piece.

In fact, Twitter was merciless in its criticism:
